Chiropractic is a regulated health profession in the United Kingdom, concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculo-skeletal system and the effects of these disorders on the function of both the nervous system and general health. There is an emphasis on manual treatments including bone or spinal manipulation or adjustments.
By restoring normal function to the musculo-skeletal system chiropractors can play a major part in relieving disorders and any accompanying pain or discomfort arising from accidents, stress, lack of exercise, poor posture, illness and the every day wear and tear that happens to us all as we grow old and particularly to those who have had a long sporting life.
Chiropractors take an all round approach to health and well-being, which means that they consider your symptoms in the context of your full medical history, your lifestyle and your personal circumstances.
Even though the first thing that may spring to mind is that 'chiropractors treat backs' - which they certainly do very successfully - today's chiropractor also diagnose and treat other musculo-skeletal disorders as well as a number of other conditions:
Spine, neck and shoulder problems
Joint, posture and muscle problems
Leg pain and Sciatica
Sports injuries
Headaches including migraines

I trained as a Chiropractor in Durban, South Africa, completing my studies in 1998. In South Africa I worked in the professional sports field as part of multidisciplinary health care teams and in a busy private practice. After emigrating to England in 1999, I have continued to work in multidisciplinary clinics specializing in musculo-skeletal and orthopaedic dysfunctions. I am a certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner and a certified Graston Technique soft tissue practitioner. My Chiropractic philosophy is based on integrating the physical, emotional and chemical well-being of the body to attain maximum health status. I have a special interest in treating spinal dysfunction, chronic neck pain and headaches. Weekends see me playing or watching sport and spending time with my young family.

I received my first Chiropractic treatment at the age of 15 , during work experience with a Chiropractor in Plymouth. I was instantly inspired, not only by the effect the treatment had on my own body, but seeing peoples' lives being drastically improved without medication or invasive treatments. I graduated in 2006 from The Welsh Institute of Chiropractic in South Wales, after completing 5 years of full time study. I went straight onto becoming an associate Chiropractor in a busy and successful practice in Norfolk, where I worked for 2 years treating a variety of conditions and people of all ages. During this time, I successfully completed the Post Registration Programme with the College of Chiropractors. Later, I went on to complete and pass the post graduate certificate in Clinical Chiropractic (PgC Cert) through the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic, as well as attending various courses to help consolidate my knowledge. I then spent a year running my own business within a multi-disciplinary clinic in Cornwall, where I became known for my gentle and holistic approach with my patients and for the thorough treatment I deliver. On relocating to Bristol, I continue to fully embrace this holistic philosophy and to educate about the benefits Chiropractic can bring.

I completed my Master of Science degree in Chiropractic at the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic. I have a strong professional background in sport and exercise. As well as sports related injuries, my special interests include lower back and neck pain, headaches, soft tissue dysfunction and managing concerns related to genetic and systemic conditions. I became interested in musculoskeletal functioning of the body when I suffered a series of sports related injuries whilst playing football, for which I received physiotherapy. At the same time, members of my family were receiving chiropractic treatment to overcome injuries of their extremity joints and lower back that originated from their spine and posture. So, with my strong interest in biology and chemistry, I embarked upon and successfully completed my Chiropractic Masters. I am an associate member of the British Chiropractic Association, College of Chiropractors and British Chiropractic Sports Council and am fully registered with the General Chiropractic Council. I am a keen and active sportsman. My interests include football, tennis, golf, fishing and surfing. I am a professional and caring chiropractor with excellent interpersonal and clinical skills and I aim to provide the very best of care to patients.
