Charlotte Meads MCSP, HPC

I qualified in 1991 from Wolverhampton School of Physiotherapy, and worked at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton for seven years where I gained experience in outpatients, orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation. Since moving to Bristol I have worked at St Mary's hospital where I currently manage the Orthopaedic inpatient service. I am fortunate to be able to work closely with some of Bristol's most
experienced Orthopaedic Surgeons  which provides me with a wide and challenging clinical caseload. My great interest is the rehabilitation of post operative Hip and Knee Replacements, and I follow advances in this area with great interest.

My free time is spent with my family, running (5 half marathons to date) cycling, and keeping pace with three growing boys.

Physiotherapy is a health care profession with a science foundation. The range of work is very broad and varied and involves working with people to promote their own health and well being.

Physiotherapy helps restore movement and function to as near normal as possible when someone is affected by injury, illness or by developmental or other disability.

Chartered Physiotherapists combine their knowledge, skills and approach to improve a broad range of physical problems associated with different 'systems' of the body.

In particular they treat neuromusculor (brain and nervous system), musculo-skeletal (soft tissues, joints and bones), cardiovascular and respiratory systems (heart and lungs and associated physiology).

People are often referred for physiotherapy by doctors or other health and social care professionals. Increasingly, as a result of changes in health care, people are referring themselves directly to physiotherapists without previously seeing any other health care professional.

Physiotherapists work autonomously, most often as a member of a team with other health or social care professionals.

Physiotherapy practice is characterised by reflective behaviour and systematic clinical reasoning, both contributing to and underpinning a problem-solving approach to patient-centred care.

I graduated in 2006 from Kings College London with Bsc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and since graduating I have had a keen interest in musculo-skeletal conditions and sports injuries.  I have gained experience in this area while working for the NHS in Bristol and within a private practice in Dursley.  I enjoy rugby and have combined this with my physiotherapy working at numerous rugby clubs in the area.  Outside of work I can be found either on a boat sailing or on my mountain bike cycling.

Simon Gale MCSP, HPC

I studied physiotherapy at the University of Southampton, graduating in 2002. Since qualifying I have worked within the NHS in Bristol, specialising in outpatients and orthopaedics (with a keen interest in post op rehab), building good relationships with several orthopaedic surgeons in Bristol. I have provided specialist physio to a local county level football team, offering a rehabilitation clinic as well as match day cover. I have provided sole physio cover at the national Ultimate Frisbee tournaments held in Bristol. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and being out on cycle rides. I am currently training for an Olympic distance triathlon.
